Main objectives of the course:

Completing the course student will gain a closer theoretical view of network security issues as well as adequate skills. The course will also prepare students for initial certification in the field of network security.
After course completion the student will:
• Knows the theoretical aspects of network security
• Knows about network threats
• is familiar with security devices (Firewall, IDS / IPS, ASA) and knows their deployment aspects
• is able to configure security devices
• is able to design and deploy a security management system for smaller networks and businesses

Continuous assessment / evaluation:
The condition for successful completion of exercises for the subject is active participation in exercises throughout the semester, mastering continuous theoretical tests (weight 30% in the overall evaluation) and solving practical assignments during the semester (weight 40% in the overall evaluation).
Final assessment /evaluation:
The exam consists of:
- the final written test (weight 10% in the overall evaluation)
- the final practical assignment aimed at solving the problem in a given time (weight 20% in the overall evaluation)

The points from the continuous and final evaluation are added up and this sum determines the final evaluation of the subject. The condition for successful completion of the course is to obtain at least 60 out of 100 points.

• ASA firewalls and their services
• Network security management

Exercises:
Laboratory exercises will be devoted to the use of knowledge from lectures and literature study to solve practical tasks in the laboratory practical works (configuration of network parameters and devices, configuration and testing of network operation, diagnostics, problem solving, etc.).
